Q. HOW DID YOU DEVELOP AN INTEREST IN THE AVIATION INDUSTRY?
A. I’d heard from friends and read in the newspapers, as well that this industry offers many job opportunities and the pay packages here are also very satisfactory. Another aspect about the service industry that drew my interest was that skills are preferred over formal qualification in this sector and skills are something you can easily develop with the help of institutes such as AHA. So, if you have active interest in this sector and the right skills and aptitude to match, this must be your choice sector.
Q. WHO GUIDED YOU TO JOIN AHA?
A. It was my own decision.
Q. WHAT’S BEEN YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH AHA?
A. Very pleasant. I was completely raw when I entered this industry. Everything that I have learned, I learnt through AHA. AHA faculty helped me improve in every aspect that mattered.
Q. WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE ORGANISATION THAT YOU ARE CURRENTLY PLACED WITH?
A. Spice Jet Airlines.
Q. HOW DID YOU GET THIS PLACEMENT?
A. Through my own efforts.
Q. WHAT WAS THE SELECTION PROCEDURE?
A. It took a good six rounds of interviews!
Q. WHAT WAS YOUR COMPENSATION PACKAGE AT THE TIME OF JOINING, OR THE CURRENT PACKAGE?
A. Earlier it was 20,000 and presently, it is Rs 36,000 per month.
Q. ANY PREVIOUS JOB EXPERIENCE BEFORE YOU STARTED YOUR AREER IN AVIATION?
A. I worked with Air Deccan as ground staff and before that I worked for a brief while with AHA at their Business Communication Centre.
Q. PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCES DURING THE FIRST FEW DAYS OF JOINING THIS ORGANIZATION, AFTER COMPLETING YOUR COURSE.
A. It was a learning phase but it was a good experience working with JET AIRWAYS as a member of the cabin crew. I would say it’s really an excellent airline to work with.
Q. WHAT IN YOUR ASSESSMENT ARE SOME OF THE BASIC SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS CAREER?
A. First and foremost you require tons of self-confidence. Secondly, you must also polish really polish—your communication skills.
Q. ANY MESSAGE FOR THE TRAINEES AT AHA?
A. It’s a wonderful platform; so make the most of it. Be leaders not followers.
